Livelihood Resource Centre (LRC) has been established at Cheshire Home, Bangalore in 2008. Supported by Accenture, an international corporation, the centre's focus is to create opportunities for employment in fast-growing sectors and industries through targeted, result based training programmes.
In the same year, LRCs started in four other locations in South Asia
Nagapattinam, Dhaka, Islamabad and Colombo.
The Livelihood Resource Centre (LRC) provides solutions to persons with disabilities that enable them to gain employment and participate equally in mainstream society.
Services offered are:
Career Guidance:
Our in-house experts guide persons with disabilities on various career options and trainings available to them. They also support them in choosing a career, based on their aptitude. Ther experts also try to provide solutions to any career related problems or queries.
Skill Training:
Our skill training programmes encompass a wide range of skills that are an integral and necessary part of everyday business. We offer training programmes ranging from basic communication skills to strategy and change management. These training programmes are designed and delivered in collaboration and consultation with leading players from different industries.
Placements:
Through our placement service we bridge the gap between the requirements in various organisations and the career aspirations of persons with disabilities. We seek to establish a lasting relationship between the employer and the individual.
Self Employment:
Self employment provides a world of opportunities to persons with disabilities to earn money on their own terms. LRC not only provides training on self employment, but also, facilitates financial linkages with government departments and financial institutions.
Networking and sensitisation:
Networking is a key activity in LRC work. We are in the process of establishing a wide network with like-minded organisations interested in addressing livelihood issues of persons with disabilities. LRC is also working - to raise awareness on issues faced by persons with disabilities in employment and to promote a barrier-free work environment.
Information Gateway:
The Gateway offers information on job placements, self employment, trainings, work place adaptations and other livelihood related resources to persons with disabilities. It also offers access to print and electronic publications, websites and online information covering a wide range of topics from promotion of employment to employment rights of persons with disabilities.
